Kihap is digital signage for studios and gyms: a website where you build what your screens show, and an Apple TV app that shows it. Kihap is run by Michael Squires, an individual based in Georgia, USA (“Kihap”, “we”, “us”). This policy covers kihap.app, the Kihap Apple TV app, and the service behind them (together, the “Service”). Questions? Write to ppa.pahik@ycavirp.
What we collect
Your account
- Your name and email address.
- Your password, stored only as a one-way hash we can't read. If you set up two-step sign-in, your authenticator app's secret (encrypted), your passkeys' public keys, and your recovery codes (hashed).
- A profile photo, if you add one.
What you add
- Photos and videos you upload, and the shows, slides, schedules, screen names, locations and backgrounds you create. This can include information about other people, such as the names or photos of your members (see “Information about your members” below).
- The place (ZIP code) you choose for a clock's weather.
Your screens
- When an Apple TV is paired, the app reports its model, system and app versions, screen resolution, network type and local network address. We also see the internet address it connects from and when it was last online.
- The app keeps a random identifier and secret on the Apple TV, so it can prove it's the same screen when it pairs.
- Screenshots of what a screen is showing, only when you ask for one. We keep only the latest.
Security and operation
- Internet addresses and records of requests, used to keep the Service secure (for example, to limit repeated sign-in attempts) and to fix problems.
We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking tools, and we don't sell or rent personal information.
Cookies
We only use cookies the Service needs to work: one that keeps you signed in, and short-lived ones that protect sign-in (against forged requests, and to carry a two-step sign-in or a one-time notice between pages). There are no advertising or analytics cookies, so there's nothing to opt out of.
How we use it
- To provide the Service: show your content on your screens, and let you manage them.
- To keep it secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To email you about your account: confirming your address, resetting your password, security notices, and things you asked for, such as a data export. We don't send marketing emails without your permission.
- To answer you when you contact us.
Who we share it with
Only the companies that help us run the Service, as needed for that:
- Amazon Web Services hosts the Service, its database and your files, and delivers our emails.
- Google provides our own email and the sign-in for Kihap staff.
- The US National Weather Service receives the coordinates of a clock's weather location (never who you are), so we can show the weather.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a transfer of the Service to a new owner (who would remain bound by this policy for information collected under it).
Your information is stored in the United States.
How long we keep it
- Your account and content: for as long as your account exists.
- When you delete your account, it's locked for 30 days, so you can change your mind, and then erased. We keep a record that an account existed and was erased, with nothing that identifies you. Backups can hold erased data for up to 7 more days.
- Data exports: 7 days after they're ready.
- Screenshots: only the latest one for each screen.
- Request records: a short period, typically no more than 30 days.
Your choices
- See and correct your details in Settings.
- Download a copy of your data from Settings › Account.
- Delete your account from Settings › Account.
- Anything else, such as questions about your data or a request you can't make in Settings: write to ppa.pahik@ycavirp. We answer requests whichever state or country you live in.
Information about your members
If you show other people on your screens, such as members' names, rankings or photos, you're responsible for having their permission (and a parent's or guardian's, for minors), and for removing it when they ask. We store and display that content only to provide the Service to you.
Children
Kihap accounts are for businesses and adults. The Service isn't directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to ppa.pahik@ycavirp and we'll delete it.
Security
Connections to the Service are encrypted, passwords are stored only as hashes, two-step sign-in and passkeys are available, and access to your data is limited to what's needed to run the Service. No service can promise perfect security; if something affects your information, we'll tell you.
Changes
We'll post any changes here and update the date above. If a change is significant, we'll also email you before it takes effect.
